I explored here on August 30th, 2020, with a group of friends.

This spillway was created from the Shearon Harris Reservoir, which is the source and outlet of cooling water for the Shearon Harris nuclear power plant. The exit of the spillway is titled Buckhorn Creek on Google Maps.

Part of the path to get to the spillway is along a section of tracks owned by Norfolk Southern but officially listed as inactive.

The spillway serves as a great place to do some beginner-level base jumping.
